Hello to all of our new Auskickers and families and welcome back to all of our stars from last season.
2016 was another massive year of Auskick at South Melbourne Districts.
The highlights? A record 388 registrations across the centre, the growth of our Girls Squad, the introduction of Specky Events (involves the use of inflatables which allow our Auskickers to fly like their favourite star for a day), our night round, the ever popular Mother's Day round, visits from our favourite AFL and VFL Womens Stars, the second year of our Elite Kicking Academy (tailored kicking program for our Grade 3's which involves the use of video), Auskick games at half time of the VFL for our Grade 1's, numerous Auskick games at half time of the AFL including the Dogs v Hawks Semi-Final, our second annual trip to Vietnam...did I mention we were named Auskick Centre of the Year for our region by AFL Victoria?
And all that before we start to reminisce about the silky skills on show every Saturday morning at Oval 11 Albert Park….
2017 is set to be another huge season of footy and fun at the South Melbourne Districts Auskick Centre with an exciting 14 round season of activities, skill sessions, classic footy drills and the ever important Auskick matches.
Our well-structured program caters for all children aged 4 + (participants must be celebrating their 5th birthday during the 2016 calendar year) of all abilities and we offer a pathway into junior footy through South Melbourne Districts FC and teams from U8’s all the way through to seniors.
We are also very proud of our growing Girl's program, with a record 68 female registrations across the centre in 2016. In 2017 we are looking to make this even bigger and it promises to be a very exciting year with the launch of the AFL Women's competition and the first year that South Melbourne will be entering a girls team in both the senior and junior (i.e. U12's) competitions.
What can you expect from our Auskick Centre? Well, we are one of the largest Auskick Centres in Victoria and have qualified AFL coaches to run the program. Last year we had a total of 35 coaches across all of our age groups. Our Auskickers are placed into age groups according to year level at school: Kinder Squad, Prep Squad, Grade 1 Squad, Grade 2 Squad, the dedicated Grade 3 Elite Kicking Academy and the Senior Squad made up of the Grade 4’s, 5’s and 6’s who will be involved in more complex training drills and big matches. In addition we have a dedicated Girl’s Squad with a tailored program just for the girls.
But most importantly we are a family focussed centre that places the greatest focus on FUN - every kid should have fun whilst they learn the basics of our great game.
Auskick is held from 9.00 - 10.30am each Saturday morning, commencing 22 April 2017.
We look forward to welcoming you and your Auskicker down to South Melbourne Districts in 2017.
