It was a proud occasion for South Melbourne Districts Sports Club at this year’s CMCA Presentation Night held at the Moorabbin Town Hall on Monday 19th April. Never before have so many of our teams and players been represented at this event. It was a continual stream of South Melbourne Districts team captains and players that were called to the front of the hall to collect their trophies and accolades for what has become our most successful season to date.

Team Coaches, parents and South Melbourne Districts officials delighted in seeing our teams and players recognised for their outstanding efforts this season.

Well done everybody at the Club. These are everybody’s rewards and recognitions. Our achievements were noted and most importantly, the spirit and good sportsmanship in which all of our teams played was recognised and commented on.

The South Melbourne Districts Sports Club could not be prouder of our cricketing boys and girls.

Under 12B

Our Under 14B Team is the first South Melbourne Districts Junior Cricket team in 10 years to bring home a Premiership Shield. Congratulations to all involved, players and parents who have secured a wonderful place in our Club’s history.

The nail biting Grand Final was settled with a boundary on the second to last ball. The match displayed all of the brilliant skills, temperament and teamwork that our players have developed throughout the season. They are deserved winners and we are all very proud of them.

For the record the Grand Finalist players, Team Manager and Coaches were;
Remy Cadman, Christian Middleton, Ted Alstergren, James Bazzani, Dan Langton, Andrew Sheridan, Rhys Young, Michael Olney-Fraser, James Peters, Lachlan Costa, Michael Kidston and Jack Altermatt (Josh Wood played important matches earlier in the season before heading interstate).

John Costa (Team Manager), Ian Kidston and Tom Langton (Assistant Managers).

Well done to all on such an exciting achievement.

TRUE CHAMPIONS AS WELL
No less our ‘True Champions’ were our Under 16A and Under 14A Team players. Both teams played magnificently throughout the season and finals to reach their respective Grand Finals, only to be narrowly beaten on the day. Many a heroic tale to tell in these two Grand Finals and photos will be posted as soon as possible.

Both of these teams have thrilled the Club with their respective campaigns. However hard they fought it out on the ground on the day, in defeat they showed great dignity.

You too are ‘True Champions’ of the Club and we are equally proud of your achievements.

What a brilliant wrap up to a brilliantly successful junior cricket season. Well done to all players who participated and enjoyed the thrills and spills.
