Our Indoor Facilities, our new Bowling Machine……. Ready for action!
The Club’s newly acquired Bola Pro Bowling Machine is now available for use by accredited South Melbourne Club member parents.
It is exactly the same as the machines used by the Australian and Victorian State Teams when they do their indoor training in the bowels of the MCG!
Ours is set up in our 1 net Indoor Cricket Facility in Shed 5, The Pits, Aughtie Drive, Albert Park and ready for action.
The Usage Protocol, which can be found under the 'Bowling Machine' link on the Cricket pages, outlines the requirements and guidelines for use.
The best way to get started is to contact and discuss a time to use it with your Team Manager/Coach. Alternatively, get accredited yourself. All you have to do is set up a mutually convenient time with either Chris Garschagen (0412 566 544) or Bryce Anderson (0418 381 938).

« Umpire Bill and son Tom, after a hard days cricket!
Bill Kittson has been an active contributor to the SMDSC for many years. You will regularly see him strutting his stuff around the footy boundary line and frequently officiating at son Tom’s Under 12s cricket matches. Here are some ‘tell all’ facts about Bill. We greatly appreciate your voluntary and tireless input on behalf of the Club.
Dad of: Tom
Greatest moment in cricket when he was Under 12: Being smacked on the chest with a cover drive, it nearly killed me, and the coach commenting “that’s the way, use your body!”
Greatest moment in cricket ever: Never played sport as a kid except that once when I got half killed by a cover drive, but later joined up when I was 27 with some mates. The highlight of my “coodabeen a champion” career was being told “I was a good clubman” (meaning I couldn’t bat, bowl or field, but was always very keen to try!).
Sporting (any sport) highlight in life: Does winning a ‘cats eye’ at marbles count?
Favourite sportsman and why: Andrew Symonds, because he played so well in Australia A’s but when promoted to play for Australia he failed on a couple of occasions. However he never gave up and now has played some great games for Australia. NEVER STOP TRYING!
Best tip to a young cricketer: Enjoy your cricket and always dream of playing for Australia.
