Junior cricket…..we’re off and running

The sun has arrived, the players are hard at training and an exciting season is underway.
This year we are fielding 9 teams, 1 x Under 16s, 3 x Under 14s and 5 x Under 12s. Our stocks have never been better and our Coaches report that our skills, confidence and enthusiasm is sky high.
Matches start on the weekend of October 10th and 11th. (Twilight matches on Friday 10th, Saturday matches on 11th). The teams are being finalised and we can see that the boys are bursting to go. Initial fixtures will be released by the CMCA on 8th October.
A great deal of planning and hard work from voluntary assistance has already gone into getting the season up and running. We count very much on the voluntary input of parents to make the matches happen and already many have put their hands up for Team Management roles. But, Team Managers need scorers, umpires, player welfare assistants, kit controllers etc etc and we are hoping that everybody will step forward to make sure our sons have a memorable season. Remember, you do not need to know anything to be able to help in some way. I know the boys love to have your support at their matches….so do we.
Here’s to a brilliant cricket season to each and everybody.
Cricket Training Coaches
We are delighted to announce that ALEX MCLEAN who worked so effectively with our players last year has agreed to work with us again this season. He will be known to many of you and is certainly well respected by the players. Alex is Level 1 accredited and ‘Working with Children’ endorsed.
Equally we are grateful for the committed involvement of one of our Dad’s, JIM HIOTIS who is Level 2 accredited. He coaches his son’s (George) Under 12 A Team but I know that he has imparted a great deal of his cricket nous to many in the Club. Jim is an experienced Physical Education teacher in our local community.
In line with our intended strategy to ensure all players at all levels obtain quality technical coaching we are thrilled to announce the appointment of another outstanding Coach. SHANE GIESE (Level 1 accredited) together with Alex, will work with our boys on Mondays (with our super Under 14s squad) and Wednesdays (with our very talented Under 12s C&D Squad). Shane is highly credentialed and an outstanding cricket talent. We are thrilled to have him with us this season and know that our boys will benefit from his input.
« Shane Giese….his record speaks for itself. Have a look at this boys!
