Middle Park Cricket Club’s support and commitmentSeptember 23

Our alliance with the Middle Park Cricket Club is stronger than ever. The club offers our young players a pathway to senior cricket...an opportunity to build on the friendships we have built through our junior years at South Melbourne. It gives us a chance to learn the craft of playing on turf wickets, guided by past players that act as our mentors. Our alliance with MPCC is critical to our young players future opportunities...we will feature many more stories about the importance of this alliance and pathway in the coming season.

Today, we are proud to announce that 3 current MPCC players have agreed to coach and train our Under 16s players in the coming season. These guys are committing their time and effort to support our most senior players to develop their skills and capabilities to not only achieve reward from this season, but to assist the transition to a future and ongoing cricket life!

We appreciate and value MPCC's support. Thanks to James O'Maley, Adam Ray and Christian Fagan for their very important coaching involvement.

By the way, check out MPCC's website...many of our past players are achieving great heights - check out a couple of our Under 12 Coach's averages Jim Hiotis and Alex McLean!!!

Coming Soon…our Brand New NetsSeptember 22

You may have noticed some construction work near our Clarke Shields Pavilion...the marked off area at the other end of Oval 11.

This is early days of our brand new nets. We'd hoped that they would be ready by the start of the season. We have now been told by Parks Victoria that we can expect them to be completed by the end of October.

These nets represent part of the upgrade of our Club's facilities...facilities that will rival the very best on offer by any cricket club in Melbourne. When these 'state of the art' nets are ready we will be able to better spread our training times and arrangements to ensure safe and structured training.
This is just another example of excellence at South Melbourne Junior Cricket Club.

We’re so excited about the new cricket season!September 02

So much has happened in the last year. The South Melbourne Junior Cricket Club is shooting for the stars!

Building on the incredible work that Kerry Boulton (the retiring Junior Club President) and Noel Jones (the retiring Junior Club Secretary) completed in the last 7 years, we are planning to take the Club to even greater heights...even more fun, even more achievements, even more respect in our community.

We have plans in place to ensure that this is the community cricket Club to be with. Facilities, coaches, grounds, number of teams, organisation and financial solidity second to none. Close and interactive relations with our local schools. Strong alliances, associations and development pathways with the Middle Park Cricket Club, the CMCA and Cricket Victoria.

Most importantly, we want to continue to attract and foster the most supportive parents and, of course, we want the most team oriented players and friends to share our fun and excitement.

As the season progresses we will outline the specific plans we have worked on. Keep an eye on this 'State of Play' - Notice Board section. It is intended to keep you up to date with what is happening at the Club as well as direct and/or link you to any information you may need throughout the season e.g. fixtures and venues, training times, Coach contacts, 'How to Score', Representative pathways, organisational and information meetings etc

Have a great season and do not hesitate to contact either Bryce or myself if we can help you in anyway.

Chris Garschagen Junior Cricket – President
Bryce Anderson Junior Cricket - Secretary
